Cornelder Moçambique (manager of the Port of Beira) reported this Friday, June 14, that through its General Cargo Terminal it has set a new record for loading granite blocks by reaching a daily gross throughput of 6,357 tonnes, exceeding the average of 3,400 tonnes handled daily.
The company explained that the operations took place over 39 hours between 28 and 29 May 2024, with a total of 10,374 tonnes shipped.
According to the document, the ship’s productivity achieved with the shipment is the result of structural changes implemented in the granite block loading plan and execution process. The terminal and Supercargo jointly designed a very detailed plan, improving coordination between quay operations and the storage area, as well as optimising the location of the granite blocks in the parking area.
“The excellent performance of the equipment recently acquired by Cornelder Moçambique contributed to these results, as a result of the continuous investment in modernising the company’s fleet,” reads the statement, stressing that “modern terminal tractors, special trailers and large forklifts, along with the dynamics resulting from the application of the new Terminal Management Operating System, were decisive in achieving this milestone.”
