Post-Election Tension: AIMO Advocates Urgent Industrial Recovery to Regain Investor Confidence

The Industrial Association of Mozambique (AIMO) has expressed concern about the impact of the post-election instability on the industrial sector, warning that the vandalisation of factories and production units jeopardises future investments and threatens thousands of jobs, according to the Carta de Moçambique portal.

The organisation advocates the creation of an industrial recovery programme, calling on the new government to adopt concrete measures to encourage the resumption of production and restore the confidence of domestic and foreign investors.

AIMO, which is part of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), points out that the destruction of industrial assets could increase the cost of living and unemployment, directly affecting the population.

‘Industrialisation processes are fundamental for creating jobs and essential infrastructure. The destruction of factories represents a huge setback for the country’s development,’ said Rogério Samo Gudo, president of AIMO, quoted in a statement.

The association expressed solidarity with the companies affected by the acts of vandalism and with the families who lost members during the demonstrations. However, it did not reveal concrete figures on the number of factories affected or the accumulated damage, saying that information is still being collated in coordination with the CTA.

Faced with the crisis, AIMO is reinforcing its call for stability and dialogue, asking all Mozambicans to avoid acts of violence and bet on peaceful solutions to resolve differences.

The organisation also urges the government to create policies that guarantee the recovery of the industrial sector, ensuring the protection of productive units as essential pillars for the country’s development and prosperity.
