The Minister of Industry and Trade said on Monday, April 24, that France is a privileged partner for the development of Mozambican industry. According to Silvino Moreno, the European country is relevant in capitalising on the potential and competitive capacity in terms of capital, technology and experience.
“The establishment of industrial parks under the National Industrialise Mozambique Programme and supply markets, in the transformation and value addition of agri-food products (including inland water fishing), graphite, bauxite, wood, aluminium, steel and marble are a priority for which we would like to count on French investment, particularly in the provinces of Inhambane, Tete, Sofala, Zambézia, Niassa and Cabo Delgado”, said Silvino Moreno, speaking at the opening of the Mozambique-France Business Forum that brought together, in Maputo, over 200 Mozambican and French businessmen.
According to Moreno, investing in Mozambique gives consistency and scalability to investments as they can have access to the regional market of the SADC and the continental market (Free Trade Area Agreement) free of customs duties, as well as logistical facilities at the level of port corridors.
In his turn, the president of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), Agostinho Vuma, in his speech, highlighted some ongoing reforms aimed at attracting investment, such as the law on private investment and labour. The source also highlighted the implementation of some concrete measures in response to the challenges of the private sector.
The French ambassador to Mozambique, Yann Pradeau, reiterated the interest of his country in strengthening economic relations, particularly trade, with Mozambique.
