Government Relaunches Industrial and Commercial Activity in the Country

The Government is committed to revive the industrial and commercial activity, based on an articulation between the several actors of the two sectors, as well as in the promotion of the national entrepreneurship, in the capacitation of people, in the development of infrastructures and in the structural mobilization of financing.

According to the vice-minister of Industry and Commerce, Ludovina Bernardo, in statements said that, it is a measure framed in a program of implementation of portfolios of projects that complement each other, with the aim of stimulating the creation of viable productive units.

“These are initiatives that will allow adding value to agricultural products and natural resources that can be manufactured and, therefore, contribute to economic growth, productivity, and the generation of employment, especially for young people and women,” he said.

According to the source, it is expected that with the implementation of the industrialization program, where the labor is more specialized and productive, it will contribute to a better sustainability of employment. Thus, it is projected that 215,000 jobs will be created in the 2021 to 2030 timeframe.

“This is exactly why the Government is creating a stable macroeconomic policy framework sustained by a flexible exchange rate, inflation targets, and a reliable and sustainable fiscal regime,” she stressed.

The vice-minister also assured that the Executive will also strengthen the Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) so that there is a favorable business environment, “a determining precondition to instill more confidence in investors, with positive reflexes in the promotion of industrial projects”.

“The Government’s intention is to guarantee that there is an implementation of integrated or complementary investment projects that promote more jobs, industrialization, economic and social growth, while seeking to attract foreign direct investment flows and promote domestic capital,” she stressed.

Ludovina Bernardo also clarified that by placing the industrialization at the center of the economic policies, the “Executive” intends to convey a sign of confidence to the internal and external market, namely, the bet on the medium and long term sustainable development of the economy.

“We believe that the process of the industrial relaunch of Mozambique, by focusing on the creation of quality jobs, will also be contributing to a demographic and economic balance in the country, with effects on social peace.
