The cultural industry in Mozambique faces challenges but also presents significant growth potential, with a focus on areas such as visual arts, dance, music, and literature, in addition to cultural tourism.
In this regard, the Executive, through the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture, stated that the sector “is a valuable asset for the country’s economic development,” emphasizing the existence of initiatives currently being designed to strengthen national identity.
The information was shared by the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture, Matilde Muocha, during a meeting in her office with Belmiro Quive, President of the Department of Cultural and Creative Industries within the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA). According to a statement released this Thursday (10th), during the meeting, Muocha presented the structure of the arts and culture sector as well as the Government’s priorities regarding the implementation of the National Development Strategy.
“There are programmes to be implemented that will position culture as a priority for strengthening national identity and as an asset for the economy,” added Matilde Muocha.
In turn, Belmiro Quive expressed CTA’s willingness to support the Ministry of Education and Culture in implementing sector initiatives, showing particular interest in the approval of new legislation and in improving the legal and organizational framework for the development of cultural and creative industries.
“It was agreed that both parties will turn the proposed activities into a joint work agenda, subject to supervision,” the statement concluded.
