Eni (ENI.MI, ENI.BR) said Thursday its Eni Rovuma Basin unit in Mozambique started producing vegetable oil to be used as feedstock at its biorefineries.
The vegetable oil was extracted from by-products from local agro-processing facilities, with certification from the ISCC-EU sustainability scheme, advancing the Italian energy group’s strategy to decarbonize transportation.
Eni operates the Coral South liquefied natural gas project, which produces gas in Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin.
The company’s shares fell marginally in early afternoon trading.
