The Industrial Association of Mozambique (AIMO) has argued that megaprojects should boost the development of local industries and improve the lives of communities while they operate in the country.
According to the newspaper O Pais, the position was presented on Friday (14) at a meeting between AIMO and the Minister of Economy, during which the association asked for more access to funding.
According to a press release issued by the organisation, the meeting forcefully addressed the challenges faced by the industry, including regulatory barriers, poor infrastructure and the urgent need to modernise technology and processes.
At the meeting, AIMO also emphasised the need to create more sources of funding to allow local industries to expand and modernise their operations.
‘The president of AIMO, Rogério Samogudo, called for the creation of conditions that favour the granting of credit, as well as policies that encourage the attraction of private and international investment in the sector,’ reads the document.
Basilio Muhate, alongside his team, emphasised that the government is committed to unreservedly supporting efforts to boost innovation, sustainability and the strengthening of local industries.
He reaffirmed that the partnership with AIMO will be the key to meeting the challenges and realising the great dreams of industrialisation that will change the future of the nation.
