The Government invests over eight hundred and ninety million meticais to boost the value chain of commercial fishing and aquaculture in seven provinces of the country.
The investment comprises the second phase of the implementation of the programme “More sustainable fish in the provinces of Niassa, Nampula, Cabo delgado, Zambézia, Tete, Manica and Sofala”.
The initiative provides for support actions for individual and collective fishermen, among others.
The programme was launched this Saturday at the administrative post of Murebwe, in the district of Mecufi in Cabo Delgado, by the Minister of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, Lídia Cardoso.
“Over the next few months we hope to cover 4,000 artisanal fishermen and 16,000 companies, which will create jobs for around 5,000 people and will benefit around 20,000 individuals,” she said.
