Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) will benefit from reduced participation fees at the 59th edition of the Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), taking place from 26 August to 1 September. According to the authorities, the measure comes as a way of encouraging the active participation of this business sector and promoting local products and services.
“For this edition, we are bringing numerous advantages to the business community, especially SMEs, where we intend to offer reduced rates in order to encourage their active participation in the event. This measure will help stimulate business and create more interaction between national and foreign investors,’ said the fair’s director, Otavio Zefanias, quoted by the newspaper Noticias.
He added that the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports (APIEX) is committed to helping SMEs access new markets and partners, expanding their production capacities.
Zefanias also revealed that, in order to improve access to the venue, the organisation is working to mitigate the problems caused by congestion on the roads, especially on the opening days, stressing that ‘public tenders have been launched and agreements signed with public transport companies to ensure mobility from different points in Maputo province’.
‘A press office will be set up to improve interaction between exhibitors and the media, as well as providing a platform for promoting products and services,’ he concluded.
FACIM 2024 expects at least 26 countries to take part and expects to welcome around 65,000 visitors over the six days of the event.
