Young Entrepreneurs Defend a Favorable Climate for Business

The National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) of Mozambique defended on Wednesday, July 20, the promotion of a favorable business climate in the country, through the removal of barriers to business activity, aiming at the dynamization of social and economic development.

ANJE made known its position on the business climate in Mozambique, during the launch of the “Ninth National Conference on Entrepreneurship”, which is being held in Maputo under the slogan “The Future we want”.

The vice president of that association, Mara Cancune, pointed out the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters, war in Cabo Delgado province, Northern Mozambique, and kidnappings of entrepreneurs or their families as obstacles that undermine the business environment in the country.

“The need to change this scenario is urgent”, emphasized Cancune.

The business leader advocated the need for strategies that can boost greater involvement of young people in the country’s social and economic development initiatives.

In this sense, she continued, conditions should be created for young people to capitalize on opportunities in agriculture, livestock, fishing, hydrocarbons, and tourism in order to build a robust youth entrepreneurship.

Commerce, services, transport, and technologies are other areas with potential for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The ANJE vice president advocated the creation of appropriate financial products and services as a necessary intervention for the emergence of a young entrepreneurial class.

“We intend to ensure the dissemination of business opportunities, training, and financing for young entrepreneurs, and we intend to discuss strategies for the development of entrepreneurship programs, as well as policy aspects for the improvement of the national entrepreneurial ecosystem,” emphasized Mara Cancune.
