The Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA) said on Wednesday 21 August that it had received the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Belarus to Mozambique, Igor Bely.
According to a note from the organisation, the meeting served to identify mechanisms for strengthening trade relations between the two countries, which are still incipient, with a volume of around 240.1 million meticals (3.8 million dollars), of which 4.6 percent (corresponding to 11.1 million meticals) represents the weight of exports, and the remainder represents imports (233.8 million meticals).
According to the document, of the products most sought after by Belarus, only unmanufactured tobacco and tobacco waste are registered, while Mozambique imports mostly mineral or chemical fertilisers, potash, books, brochures and television receivers.
At the meeting, the parties agreed to organise a Business Mission to Belarus soon, which will serve to start a process aimed at making trade relations more dynamic.
