Riportico, one of the best engineering consultancies in Portugal, has secured a contract in Mozambique, awarded by Sociedade Nacional de Transporte de Energia. Riportico will supervise the construction work of the model homes, resettlement houses and associated infrastructure included in the Temane Regional Transmission Project (TTP), between Vilanculos and Maputo, an investment of 506 million dollars.
The project in question is financed by the World Bank and aims to supply electricity to the city of Maputo from Temane power plants. For this a 561-kilometre overhead transmission line will be built at 400 kilovolts, as well as three new substations in Vilanculos, Chibuto and Matalane, and expansion of the Maputo substation.
Riportico Engenharia will supervise construction of the 11 model homes and 212 resettlement houses, including associated infrastructure work, but the work also includes construction of a police station, school, health centre, roads and electrification in two of the four lots that make up the project. The work should start in the last quarter of this year and will last eight months.
Carlos Vieira, Riportico’s country manager in Mozambique, stresses that “this contract is further proof of the place that Riportico is cementing in the countries where it operates, particularly in Mozambique. And it also confirms that our vision and strategy in the Mozambican market are a consolidated reality. Despite the challenges of covid-19 and other destabilising events in the country, Mozambique remains a market of great potential, and it is a priority for Riportico to continue to consolidate itself in this market”.
Riportico is an engineering consulting firm based in Cabanas de Viriato, Viseu, with about 200 employees in areas such as engineering, architecture, information technology, environment and management. In Mozambique alone it has around 40 workers and another 30 in Cape Verde.
