The Municipal Council of the city of Chimoio started the emergency rehabilitation of the access roads damaged by the rains, which have been felt since December of last year in this municipality.
According to João Ferreira, Chimoio’s mayor, the roads that give access to the suburbs and also some asphalted roads that are bumpy will be repaired.
Ferreira said that during the maintenance period, about 60 kilometers of asphalted roads and unspecified extensions of earthworks will be covered.
He assured that until the end of the rains the road maintenance work will run at the desired pace, with prospects for paving some of them.
“The municipality already has the equipment to produce paving and tar, so all of the city’s roads will be treated as soon as the rains stop. The residents may be complaining about the delay, but we are getting ready, and when the rainy season passes we will start the work,” he said.
At this moment, the urban and peri-urban access roads in the city of Chimoio are in a state considered to be terrible. Therefore, townspeople are calling for urgent repairs.
They said that the degradation is significantly reducing the life span of their vehicles.
