Vivo Energy Mozambique, representative of the Engen brand and exclusive distributor of Shell lubricants, announced the expansion of its petrol station network with the inauguration of a new unit in Mumemo, Marracuene, on 03/10. This expansion is the result of a strategic partnership with Camel Oil, involving 12 petrol stations in Maputo province, bringing the total number of Vivo Energy petrol stations in the country to 58.
According to João Oliveira e Sousa, Executive Director of Vivo Energy Mozambique, this partnership is not limited to expanding the network, but also aims to bring the company’s services closer to its customers, offering excellence in service and contributing to the socio-economic development of local communities.
‘This new station, Engen N1 (Mumemo), as well as supplying fuel, also offers a car wash and oil change centre, as well as an equipped convenience store,’ said Oliveira e Sousa, highlighting the positive impact on the local economy and trade.
Of the 12 service stations involved in the partnership with Camel Oil, five are already in operation, while three are in the construction or remodelling phase, scheduled for completion by the end of 2024. The remaining four stations should be operational by the beginning of 2025, consolidating Vivo Energy’s presence in Mozambique.
Sustainable growth and economic impact
Since entering the Mozambican market in March 2019, following the acquisition of the Engen brand, Vivo Energy has shown accelerated growth. Its network has grown from 19 stations in 2019 to 58 today, reflecting the company’s commitment to accessibility, innovation and quality in its services.
Vivo Energy Mozambique employs more than 1,800 Mozambicans, directly and indirectly, in the retail sector alone, reaffirming its commitment to job creation and the development of the communities in which it operates.
The expansion of Vivo Energy’s petrol station network thus reflects not only a growth strategy, but also its commitment to improving access to essential services in various parts of the country, as well as contributing to the strengthening of local infrastructure.
The Vivo Energy Group operates in 28 African markets and has more than 3,900 petrol stations, operating under the Engen and Shell brands. Its retail offer includes fuel, lubricants, convenience stores and associated services. In addition, the company provides innovative energy solutions to promote sustainability in sectors such as mining, aviation, energy and agriculture.
