Mozambique’s Tax Authority has recognized Sasol Petroleum Temane (SPT) as the third-largest contributor in the Corporate Income Tax (IRPC) category during the National Taxpayer Day celebrations held on March 25 in Maputo.
According to Lusa, the recognition comes in a symbolic year for the institution, marking 20 years since its creation under the theme “20 Years of the Tax Authority: Consolidating the Role of the Taxpayer in Budget Sustainability.”
According to the company’s official statement, this position reflects Sasol’s consistency as one of the country’s leading taxpayers, having remained among the top three in this category over the years.
In the 2025 financial year, corresponding to the period between July 2024 and June 2025, the company contributed 4.4 billion meticais in Corporate Income Tax, reinforcing its weight in the state’s tax revenues.
Quoted in the statement, Sasol Mozambique’s Managing Director, Sónia Matsinhe Chembeze, said the recognition “highlights Sasol’s role in Mozambique as a key player in the country’s economic sustainability.”
“This recognition, once again awarded by the Mozambique Tax Authority, reaffirms our relevance within the national economic landscape through our five pillars, with particular emphasis, in this case, on our tax contributions,” she stated.
The distinction comes within the framework of National Taxpayer Day, celebrated on March 22, a date that aims to recognize the role of taxpayers in financing public expenditure and promoting economic development.
