The Chief Executive Officer of Águas da Região Sul, Augusto Chipenembe, revealed on Monday, July 3, that several public institutions, located in Gaza and Inhambane provinces, owe more than 140 million meticais, a situation that puts the company in a financially sensitive situation.
“The situation is particularly sensitive, in that the company is in financial need and without means to carry out new investments, to meet the demands of the growth of the cities,” he explained.
According to Augusto Chipenembe, there are several projects that need to be carried out, but which due to economic constraints end up being stalled. “We would do the requalification of the water network in certain critical points of the city and the expansion areas.
Meanwhile, as a way to stimulate the payment of debts, the PCA said that permanent contacts are being made with the debtor institutions, as well as with those in charge.
The company Águas da Região Sul manages the supply systems in the cities of Xai-Xai, Chókwè and Chibuto, in Gaza, as well as in Inhambane and Maxixe.
