On Wednesday (the 13th), the province of Inhambane hosted the workshop “Accelerating Exports from the Province of Inhambane,” an initiative that brought together representatives from the government, the private sector, and strategic partners with the aim of strengthening business competitiveness and boosting the growth of local exports.
According to a press release, the event began with a visit to the Inhambane Agro-Industrial Economic Fair, led by Provincial Governor Francisco Manuel Pagula, accompanied by the Provincial Director of Industry and Trade, Benilde João Macuamule, the CEO of ExportaMoz, Miguel Jóia Santos, and representatives from the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA).
During the opening session, Miguel Jóia Santos highlighted the province’s economic potential in the sectors of agriculture, fisheries, tourism, agro-processing, and mineral resources, advocating for the need to transform these advantages into sustainable businesses oriented toward international markets.
According to him, strengthening the export culture could play an important role in job creation, increasing household income, and diversifying the provincial economy.
For his part, Governor Francisco Manuel Pagula stated that the workshop represents a strategic step toward strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, emphasizing the importance of harnessing local productive potential and creating new opportunities for producers, business owners, and young entrepreneurs.
“The province’s economic development depends on our ability to transform resources and productive potential into competitive value chains,” the governor said during the opening ceremony.
The workshop is being held under the theme of promoting production, competitiveness, and strengthening the export culture, at a time when Inhambane is seeking to position itself as one of the country’s main hubs of economic development.
