More than 500 foreign companies and approximately 3,000 domestic exhibitors are expected at the 61st edition of the Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), scheduled to run from 31 August to 6 September, with 28 countries having already confirmed their participation.
According to Luís José Machava, Director-General of the Agency for Investment and Export Promotion (APIEX), the 28 confirmed countries fall two short of the target set by the organisers. Brazil has been named Guest of Honour for this year’s edition.
FACIM will feature representatives from all 11 of Mozambique’s provinces and is expected to attract around 55,000 visitors over the seven-day event, bringing together companies, investors, and commercial partners from both domestic and international markets.
Beyond the business exhibitions, dedicated business forums are planned with representatives from China and the United Arab Emirates, with a focus on generating new investment opportunities and commercial partnerships.
One of the headline features of the 2026 edition will be a strong push towards digital transformation, reflecting the fair’s theme: ‘Digital and Energy Transformation: Towards a Sustainable Economy.’ Organisers intend to digitalise multiple stages of the fair, from registrations and stand bookings through to payments, programme access, and B2B meeting scheduling.
The fair will also include dedicated pavilions for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, for individual provinces, and for sectors deemed strategically important, alongside spaces reserved for government ministries and public institutions.
With this edition, FACIM aims to consolidate its role as a platform for promoting investment, trade, and partnerships between Mozambican and foreign businesses.
