The Mozambican Dredging Company (Emodraga) has announced the purchase of a new dredger with a capacity of 3000 cubic metres, a strategic investment to modernise its fleet and increase operational capacity.
According to Radio Moçambique (RM), the acquisition aims to improve the efficiency of dredging at the Port of Beira and other port infrastructures in Mozambique.
Emodraga’s production manager, Arão Massingarela, who was speaking on the sidelines of the company’s 30th anniversary celebrations, explained that the new dredger will make it possible to carry out dredging more efficiently, which is crucial to maintaining the competitiveness of the Port of Beira, a strategic point for trade and the national economy.
In addition to the dredger, the company also intends to buy a state-of-the-art dredging barge.
This advanced equipment will support dredging operations, ensuring the effective removal of sediment and contributing to coastal protection and environmental management.
In conclusion, Massingarela emphasised that the acquisition of the dredger is also aimed at strengthening the company’s position in the domestic market and boosting the country’s economic development.
