Australian Dane Kondic, who was recently announced as the new head of the management of Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM), is set to leave the position without having delivered any results in terms of the company’s financial and operational restructuring. It appears that Dane Kondic will now lead the management of Botswana’s national airline.
According to a publication by Air Botswana (BP), Dane Kondic was appointed last Friday (27th) to lead the new structural plan of the company, aimed at achieving sustainable growth.
“Air Botswana (BP) has announced the appointment of its new Board of Directors, composed of a diverse group of professionals with extensive experience in aviation, finance, and business administration. The Board is chaired by Dane Kondic, with Adelaide Selolwane serving as Vice Chairperson and Chair of the Risk and Audit Committee – they are expected to guide the airline towards sustainable growth, operational excellence, and greater value for stakeholders,” the airline stated in a press release.
It remains unclear what led to Dane Kondic’s premature departure from LAM, but the truth is that the Mozambican airline is currently undergoing a restructuring of its financial base, marked by a high level of debt. This restructuring involves strengthening its investment profile, modernizing the fleet, implementing IT systems, and revising the human resources management model in order to ensure greater efficiency and improved service quality.
Before his stint at LAM, Dane Kondic was the first CEO of Air Serbia and had a role at EuroAtlantic. He previously worked as Business Development Manager at Qantas in Australia in the late 1990s and spent nearly four years at Malaysia Airlines.
He later served as Regional Director for Southeast Asia at Sabre Airline Solutions. Before that, he was also Vice President of Commercial at Abacus International in Asia and worked at GTA (part of Travelport) as well as Kuoni Travel in China.
