The company Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM-Sul) has just resumed the circulation of trains on the Goba line, connecting the Maputo Port and the border with Essuatíni.
Rail traffic on this line was interrupted for approximately two weeks due to heavy rains in the south of the country, which forced the interruption of cargo, goods and passenger transport.
According to Mozambican newspaper Noticias, a source from CFM’s Communication and Image department did not refer to the losses caused by the interruption of the line, but said that, as well as passenger transport, cargo transport was also paralysed, the financial impact of which is still being calculated.
The rains that have been falling in the city and province of Maputo since the beginning of this month forced, on Wednesday, 22 February, the temporary suspension of train circulation on the Goba line, affecting an average of 1,200 passengers every day.
