Asseco PST and Precisely have announced the strengthening of their strategic collaboration to accelerate, still this year, the expansion of GUARDiONˣ, a security technology solution designed to protect critical systems in the financial sector.
According to a press release, the goal is to position GUARDiONˣ as a benchmark solution for banks and financial institutions in Portuguese-speaking markets, including Mozambique, especially those operating in critical IBM i environments and facing increasing demands in terms of security, traceability, and compliance.
“This strategic reinforcement comes at a time when financial institutions, including in markets such as Mozambique, already have robust security technology in place, but still struggle to fully leverage its potential. Not due to a lack of risk awareness, but because of the complexity associated with its operation, which requires expertise, methodology, disciplined execution, and continuous governance capabilities,” the statement reads.
It was precisely from this reality that the GUARDiON concept was born. Over several years of working with clients using IBM i, Asseco PST identified a recurring pattern: the separation between software and services created friction, dispersed responsibilities, and left critical capabilities underutilized.
With GUARDiONˣ, the company proposes a shift in approach. Instead of offering only software or standalone services, it now delivers a model referred to as “Security & Compliance as an Outcome.” This is a specialized managed service supported by the GUARDiON⁺ solution, based on Precisely’s Assure Security technology and operated on a continuous basis.
In practice, this means that banks no longer need to manage internally all the complexity associated with operating and evolving security solutions. That responsibility is assumed by Asseco PST, which centralizes technical expertise, operational capability, and lifecycle management, ensuring continuous security and compliance.
The collaboration with Precisely plays a central role in this model. The company provides advanced technology for IBM i environments, enabling the implementation of automated and auditable security and business continuity practices. Many financial institutions already use Precisely solutions such as MIMIX and Quick-EDD to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
GUARDiONˣ thus emerges as an evolution of this capability, transforming it into a structured, results-oriented operation tailored to the realities of growing markets such as Mozambique.
According to Gonçalo Heleno, Director of IT Infrastructure & Security at Asseco PST, the solution stems from hands-on experience. “The challenge for financial institutions is no longer just acquiring security technology, but using it effectively, with continuity and evidence,” he said.
Alexander Trekin, Senior Regional Sales Director at Precisely, believes the partnership reinforces the importance of combining technology with specialized operational capabilities, enabling faster and more sustainable progress in security and compliance maturity.
In the same vein, Marianne Roling, Vice President of Global Channels and Ecosystems at Precisely, highlights that the collaboration enables a more comprehensive, results-driven approach, helping institutions maximize the value of their technology investments.
In a landscape marked by increasing cyber threats, both external and internal, the companies point to clear benefits for the financial sector: reduced operational complexity, lower risk, better use of existing technology, and greater ability to respond to audits and regulatory requirements.
For Asseco PST and Precisely, this strategic reinforcement reflects a shared vision for the future of security in IBM i environments: less focus on isolated tools and more on concrete, measurable, and sustainable outcomes.
