The National Agency for Geospatial Development (ADE) and the Mozambique Community Network (MCNet) recently signed a memorandum of understanding in Maputo that provides for collaboration and cooperation to share knowledge that will allow the improvement of management systems, as well as alert the public and private sectors to the relevance of data use.
According to a note, the partnership aims, above all, to contribute to a better business environment through the use of innovative solutions that support the planning, storage and development of strategies that facilitate international trade.
According to MCNet’s PCA, Rogério Samo Gudo, this partnership will bring numerous advantages, as it aims to guarantee access to technology, innovation and expertise for the collection, optimisation, analysis and visualisation of data and geospatial information, in the various development sectors.
“The established agreement will accelerate institutional development, focusing on promoting the use of data and technologies to respond to Mozambique’s sustainable development challenges,” he said.
In turn, the director-general of ADE, Odete Semião, said that “taking into account that technology is changing development paths, the State must follow the dynamics, betting on the combination of traditional planning models with the most modern ones”.
“The memorandum of understanding with MCNet also aims to generate information and knowledge, through data produced in the various development sectors in Mozambique,” she concluded.
