Chinese Steel Feeds Natural gas Project in Mozambique

Chinese state-owned Shandong Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. recently announced that it has completed production of the first batch of hot-rolled steel beams for a natural gas project in Mozambique.

After a trial production period, the first batch of large-scale beams has been successfully manufactured and meeting all relevant technical requirements, Chinese news portal Jiemian reported.

This is the first time that the Shandong Iron and Steel group is participating in a natural gas engineering project in Africa, the news portal noted.
The Mozambican project will be the largest liquefied natural gas project on the African continent, the news site adds.

The Coral Floating Liquefied Natural Gas SA consortium, which includes China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Co., Ltd, expects natural gas production in area 4 of the Rovuma Basin, off Cabo Delgado province, to begin in 2022.
