In partnership with Fortune, Great Place to Work bases its “Top 25” ranking on detailed employee responses collected through a survey called the Trust Index.
The survey includes 60 questions, two of which are open-ended, covering the workplace experience and measuring management credibility, respect and fairness, pride, camaraderie, employee well-being, and overall trust. While written comments provide context, only the survey data determines the ranking.
Companies must also provide information on their programs and strategies for creating a positive work environment. To qualify for the World’s Best Workplaces list, firms must have at least 5,000 employees globally and appear on five or more regional best workplaces lists in major regions during the previous year. In total, the Great Place to Work ranking analyzes responses from more than 9 million employees and evaluates labor practices affecting over 25 million people worldwide.
The list shows a clear predominance of sectors intensive in human resources and knowledge, such as hospitality, transportation, technology, and healthcare, reflecting strong criteria focused on employee experience, organizational culture, and leadership quality. There is also a notable presence of more traditional sectors (manufacturing, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and automotive), demonstrating that workplace excellence is not limited to emerging industries.
This sectoral diversity suggests that building strong organizational cultures based on trust, well-being, and a sense of belonging has become a transversal competitive advantage, regardless of the business model or sector maturity.
