People Management must lead the internal transformation process of companies during and after the resumption of activities. Facing the extreme situation we are going through, companies must give voice to new forms of communication and investment in mental health, the qualified “match” between professional and company, as well as a greater attention to legal and juridical issues that involve the labor market.
1- Flexibilization
Recent surveys show most companies approved the results obtained by adopting remote work, an alternative found by many organizations in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. In many companies “home office” is already the main practice at least until the end of 2020, revealing a greater flexibilization of face-to-face work from now on.
2- Engagement Platforms
The remote management of employees becomes one of the trends in the area, and with it the involvement platforms also grow. The leader of each company team will have to be creative in his management strategies, creating involvement rituals among his elements. This involves collaborative dynamics, gamification and reward strategies, integration alternatives between remote teams and others.
3- Versatile professionals
More than ever the competencies of the professionals will have to be in accordance with what the company expects from them and, that, go beyond the basic attitudes of any function, such as commitment and ethics. It is necessary to have versatility to face the day-to-day tasks, but also to have differentials to be able to contribute to the company in other challenges. Empathy, communication, and systemic vision are some of the characteristics that will stand out.
4- Focus on communication and mental health
Transparency in communication is the basic link between leader and employees. Understanding the legal and juridical issues that involve labor relations is essential. This will avoid wear and tear on both sides and can be fundamental to the involvement and the search for better results. There will also be more attention to mental health, since people tend to be more productive and happier when they are valued and receive support to solve problems or overcome physical and emotional stress.
5- Investment in technology
With the covid-19 pandemic it was clear that companies that already had more familiarity with the use of technology in their processes were able to develop alternatives more quickly. Many companies are changing their strategy by investing in the digital transformation of their business. The people management area has an important role to play in this context, through the use of communication, training, performance, and development tools.
