The Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP) has announced that it will train 400 Mozambican girls in entrepreneurship and business plan development across two provinces in the north and south of the country, contributing to the revitalization of local economies.
The InFormar project aims to “design, implement, and validate a model to empower young women for access to active life after completing the 12th grade,” explains the AIP in a statement, adding that the initiative will be implemented in partnership with the Portuguese development NGO Helpo and funded by the Camões Institute.
The project will run until the end of 2026, involving “400 young girls who, after completing secondary education, are neither studying nor working,” the statement says.
InFormar, which began this month in the cities of Nampula (North) and Maputo (South), aims to support the creation of “businesses aligned with market needs” in Mozambique.
“It is a responsibility, but also a privilege, to collaborate on such a noble initiative that aims to equip 400 young women with the skills and tools they need to start their own businesses, in a particularly challenging context, within a framework of sustainability, technical competence, and rigor,” said Jorge Gaspar, head of AIP’s Consultancy Unit and project lead, as quoted in the document.
Gaspar also explained that, in terms of training and mentoring, AIP’s role in the project focuses on entrepreneurship and the development of business plans “that are viable and actionable,” thereby helping to “meet specific market and community needs and boost local economies.”
