The businessmen affiliated to the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCM) demanded this Tuesday, December 6, in Maputo, that the Government lowers the fees and taxes in force in the country, as they consider that some taxes are illegal.
During the meeting organized by CCM to discuss the policies of fees and taxes that the Government charges to businessmen, the president of the Labor Department of the organization, António Sousa, considered the amounts charged unsustainable because they harm the business class.
“What is happening right now is that, many times, these taxes are limiting the profit margins of companies and the business sector,” he said.
In his turn, the president of CCM, Álvaro Massingue, said that some fees charged by the Government are illegal and unjustifiable, explaining that not all of them have been homologated by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
“Some fees have not been observed and the municipalities are introducing them to meet their treasury needs. But this should not happen because it harms the productive sector”, defended the leader.
Massingue also said that informal businessmen are increasingly distancing themselves from the act of formalizing their companies because of the high fees that the Government charges to small and medium enterprises (PME).
