In a note on its official website, Cornelder de Moçambique says that the Port of Beira reopened last Sunday for the resumption of operations, but without disclosing any information about the cyclone’s impact.
Cornelder de Moçambique was forced to suspend all operational and administrative activity in the Port of Beira on Thursday (21-01), as a precaution against the passage of tropical storm Eloise.
The company ordered vessels from the quays, in accordance with prior planning requirements and the instructions of the maritime services.
On Sunday, Mozambique’s National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) had indicated that tropical cyclone Eloise was already “over north-eastern South Africa, traveling to Botswana, and progressively weakening, which creates conditions for weather gradually improving in Sofala, Manica and Inhambane. However, there is still a forecast of weak local rains in these provinces”.
