Mozambique Airlines (LAM) said on Thursday 25 January that the aircraft that had broken down at the airport in Tete province, in the centre of the country, has been repaired and is now operational.
According to the organisation, all aviation procedures were followed, adding that it was an unexpected situation.
“The aircraft has already been properly repaired and is now back in normal circulation. LAM has complied with all the procedures for assisting travellers and we are available to help justify the missed appointments,” he said.
On Tuesday (23) a Bombardier Q400 aircraft, operated by Mozambique Airlines, was grounded at Chingodzi International Airport following a breakdown that prevented it from taking off for Maputo.
The aircraft was due to leave at 8.50pm for the capital, carrying around 50 passengers. However, once on the runway, with the engines running and about to take off, the passengers were informed of a technical problem and told to disembark and wait for the problem to be resolved. An hour later, at 11.30pm, they boarded again. The flight captain tried to lift the aircraft, but again to no avail, after which it was announced that the trip had been cancelled.
