On Monday, February 9, the governor of Sofala, Lourenço Bulha, received the general director of Solenta Aviation Mozambique, Brian Holmes, to discuss the installation of the airline’s operational base in the city of Beira, following authorization granted by the Mozambique Civil Aviation Authority in December last year.
During the meeting, it was confirmed that the company will establish its base at Beira International Airport, with the necessary administrative, technical, and logistical procedures for the start of operations currently underway.
According to information provided at the hearing, Solenta Aviation plans to operate initially with three aircraft, each with a capacity for 50 passengers, with flights scheduled to start in the second half of this year.
Brian Holmes emphasized that the choice of Beira is due to the “strategic potential of the city and its privileged geographical position,” noting that the new base will strengthen air connectivity in the central region of the country.
For his part, Governor Lourenço Bulha considered that the initiative represents “an important step towards strengthening the transport sector and boosting the local economy, creating new employment and business opportunities.”
The company’s establishment in Beira should also consolidate the city’s role as one of the main logistics and transport corridors in the region, contributing to the development of Sofala province and the country’s strategic positioning in the region.
