Fly Modern Ark, the consultancy hired by the government to recover Mozambique Airlines (LAM), said on Monday (12) that the problem of flight delays was not due to non-payment of debts, but to a lack of fuel from the supplier.
Reacting to this information, the state-owned company Petróleos de Moçambique (Petromoc) guarantees that it did not record any fuel shortages between 10 and 11 February and is therefore not to blame for the travel delays.
In a statement issued on Tuesday 13 February, the oil company “declines any responsibility for the delays in the flights of Mozambique Airlines (LAM), or other clients”, reaffirming its commitment to “continue to honour the commitments made to everyone”.
“Petromoc did not record any fuel shortages on 10 and 11 February at the Mavalane aero-plant or at any other aero-plant it operates in the country,” it said.
With regard to the debt of more than 600 million dollars, the organisation said that “it does not comment publicly on matters related to its commercial relationship with its clients, which are dealt with in their own forum, and therefore declines any responsibility for the alleged confirmation of the existence and value of the debt”.
