Nacala Joins Airlink’s Network with Two Weekly Flights Starting in 2026

The South African airline Airlink has announced the launch of a new route between Johannesburg and Nacala, set to begin on February 2, 2026. This will be the carrier’s seventh route in Mozambique, reinforcing its commitment to regional connectivity and the development of air traffic between the two countries.

According to the Club of Mozambique portal, the new route will operate twice a week, with departures from Johannesburg on Mondays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m., arriving in Nacala at 1:10 p.m.. Return flights will depart from Nacala Airport at 1:45 p.m., arriving in Johannesburg at 4:35 p.m. The flights will be operated by Embraer aircraft, known for their comfort and efficiency on regional routes.

Airlink’s Chief Executive Officer, De Villiers Engelbrecht, stated that the expansion aims to “provide a vital link for business and leisure travelers to the economically strategic northeast region of Mozambique, complementing our existing services to Nampula.”

With this addition, Airlink now serves seven Mozambican destinations — Maputo, Beira, Pemba, Nampula, Tete, Vilanculos, and now Nacala. In total, the airline currently operates 64 round-trip flights per week to Mozambique, seamlessly integrating its regional and long-haul operations with those of its international partners.

Passengers can enjoy attractive conditions, including economy fares with a 20 kg baggage allowance, 30 kg for full-fare tickets, and an additional 15 kg allowance for sports equipment. Onboard, a light meal, beverages, and spacious seating are offered, with no middle seat configuration. Bookings can be made through the official Airlink website, the mobile app, or authorized travel agents.
