Mozambique is promoting the potential of its civil aviation sector at the African Air Transport Convention and Exhibition 2026, taking place from 15 to 19 June in Lomé, Republic of Togo. The Mozambican presence stood out during a visit to the national stand by Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé, accompanied by Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame.
According to a statement cited by Club of Mozambique, the two heads of state were received by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Mozambique Airports, Amélia Muendane, who presented the country’s participation in the event and explained the role of national institutions in the development of civil aviation.
During the visit, Amélia Muendane highlighted the contribution of Mozambican entities to strengthening civil aviation, in a moment that helped increase Mozambique’s visibility in one of Africa’s leading platforms dedicated to air transport.
The national stand brings together Aeroportos de Moçambique, E.P., Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique, and the Instituto de Aviação Civil de Moçambique, jointly presenting the capabilities of Mozambique’s civil aviation sector.
Through this participation, Mozambique is promoting opportunities in air transport, regional connectivity, and airport development. The national delegation is led by the Civil Aviation Institute of Mozambique and includes representatives from the main institutions linked to the sector.
According to the event organisers, Mozambique’s presence reinforces the country’s commitment to strengthening civil aviation and promoting strategic partnerships across Africa, with the aim of boosting sector development.
The visit by the Presidents of Togo and Rwanda to the Mozambican stand underscores the growing importance of civil aviation as a driver of regional integration and economic development. The African Air Transport Convention and Exhibition brings together government officials, civil aviation authorities, airport operators, airlines, and industry partners, and is considered one of the main platforms for debate on air transport in Africa.
