LAM Can Save 96 Million Meticais per Year by Revising Contracts, Says CIP

The company Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) can save 125 thousand dollars per month by revising catering contracts (food services), revealed the Director of Participation Control at the Institute of State Participation Management (IGEPE), according to CIP.

Calculations show that annually, these savings total 1.5 million dollars, equivalent to 96 million meticais (at an exchange rate of 64 meticais).

These amounts are spent in a context where the company is immersed in a financial crisis, sometimes even lacking meals for passengers during flights.

The amount that can be saved refers to the revision of contracts for just one type of service, suggesting there may still be more inefficiencies.

It is worth remembering that a few months ago, the President of the Republic revealed that LAM was a den of corruption and schemers, which hampers the revitalization of the company.

According to the IGEPE representative, the truth of these facts will be confirmed or denied by the ongoing forensic audit, whose results will be released next month.
