AMT Promises to Start Soon the Process of Payment of Subsidies to Carriers

The Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT) ensures that the funds for the compensation to transporters exist and that soon it will start the payment process, stressing that the delays are related to bureaucratic aspects.

“A promise made is a promise kept. We have a serious Minister, we have a serious Government and we are here to talk about it. I want here to reassure all operators that there is no need for them to be nervous and we regret the length of delay we have. Very soon, depending on various circumstances, they will receive their compensation amounts. This is what I can say for now,” said António Matos, Chairman of the Metropolitan Transport Agency, quoted by newspaper O País.

According to the leader, irregularities in the list of operators eligible for the process are the reason why some setbacks are being verified.

“We started working and verified that there were many errors. I can give an example: we received lists of operators whose NIB was not in conformity with the Bank and so we returned the lists. We also received lists whose licensors did not have in their databases information about some carriers and, again, we returned the lists”, explained António Matos.
