World Bank Program Reaches Over 110,000 Farmers in Gaza Province

More than 110,000 people in Gaza province are receiving seeds, fertilisers, and other agricultural inputs under the MozRural Emergency programme, financed by the World Bank and implemented by the National Sustainable Development Fund (FNDS).

The initiative is designed to help families affected by adverse events resume agricultural production, recover their livelihoods, and strengthen food security.

Beneficiaries receive kits comprising rice, maize, bean, and vegetable seeds, as well as fertilisers, insecticides, hermetic storage bags, sprayers, hoes, and other materials required for farming activities.

The distribution of inputs is carried out under MozRural Emergency, a programme specifically aimed at supporting the economic and productive recovery of affected communities while building their capacity to withstand the effects of adverse climatic events.

A joint technical mission involving FNDS, the World Bank, and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) recently visited communities covered by the programme in Gaza province. The mission assessed compliance with the social and environmental safeguards established for the implementation of programme activities, with the objective of identifying potential risks and defining preventive or corrective measures.

According to the initiative, the resumption of agricultural activity is fundamental to enabling families to recover their incomes and improve their access to food.

FNDS is responsible for the overall implementation of MozRural Emergency, while UNOPS manages the procurement and distribution of agricultural inputs. Funded by the World Bank, the programme aims to support the recovery of livelihoods, reinforce food security, and increase community resilience to the impacts of adverse climatic events.
