World Bank Announces US$10 million to Fund Agricultural Research Projects in Mozambique

Mozambique is one of the beneficiaries of an additional grant estimated at US$70 million, disbursed by the World Bank to fund the Eastern and Southern Africa Centres of Excellence for Higher Education (ACE II) Project.
Of the US$70 million, Mozambique will receive US$10 million to strengthen higher education and research in agriculture and expand the successful ACE model, which aims to further strengthen the region’s capacity to provide high quality training and applied research in the field of agriculture, said a statement cited by AIM.

Mozambique has already established its first Centre of Excellence for Agri-Food Systems and Innovation, with the aim of creating high quality technical and research capacity for agricultural development.
The main aim of ACE II is to strengthen links between universities in participating countries and support efforts to meet the needs of the regional agricultural sector by strengthening agri-food education and training reinforced with transdisciplinary approaches and applied research.
