Salimo Abdula Foundation Supports Agribusiness and Financial Management Training in Marracuene

Around 150 producers from Marracuene district, in Maputo province, are benefiting from intensive training in agribusiness and financial education. The initiative, promoted by the Salimo Abdula Foundation (FSA), is being carried out in partnership with Money Savvy Mozambique and the Marracuene Municipal Council.

According to a press release from the organization, the training program, “a pioneer in the region,” aims to strengthen the foundations for sustainable household income development and the empowerment of local communities. Over the course of three days, participants will be equipped with essential tools and skills to manage their businesses and improve their families’ economic performance.

During the opening ceremony, held this Wednesday in the town of Marracuene, Paulo Oliveira, Chairman of the FSA Board of Directors, emphasized: “The role of the Foundation is to contribute to the creation of opportunities with real impact in communities. We promote a sense of solidarity, responsible citizenship, and commitment to well-being and sustainable development. Our goal is to foster entrepreneurship through capacity building, helping people write a new chapter in their lives and their surroundings.”

Sany Weng, co-founder of Money Savvy Mozambique, reinforced the importance of the training: “We believe this initiative will generate real and lasting impacts on the economic lives of small producers and agribusiness entrepreneurs in Marracuene. Financial education is a powerful tool for planning, saving, avoiding over-indebtedness, and creating investment capacity.”

Aníbal Bechel, Councillor for Urbanization and Infrastructure at the Marracuene Municipal Council, added: “We are confident that this initiative will yield positive results in terms of financial management for our population, with a special focus on young people and women involved in agriculture, livestock, and aquaculture.”

The beneficiaries “expressed great enthusiasm and highlighted the value of the training as an essential step toward boosting their economies and improving the management of their resources.”

The training will cover topics such as savings methods, credit costs, the risks of over-indebtedness, financial management, and other subjects related to agro-industrial development.
