The Mozambican Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, on Friday, 10 November, called for more agreements to be signed to allow for the effective implementation of initiatives and projects in various areas, especially agriculture.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the first Niassa Investment Forum, he emphasised that importance should be given to other areas of development, namely fishing, tourism and conservation, energy, infrastructure and mineral resources.
“To this end, we recommend that during the work you focus above all on direct interaction between government authorities, the financial sector and potential national and foreign investors, in order to establish commitments and define concrete actions to be implemented in the short, medium and long term,” he said.
Adriano Maleiane noted that “investment in economic and social infrastructure improves the business environment and increases business opportunities, jobs and income for the population”.
The first Niassa Investment Forum was organised by the Mozambican Chamber of Commerce (CCM) as part of the Industrialise Mozambique Programme (PRONAI), and took place under the theme of “Agriculture and Energy as Factors Driving Development in Niassa Province”. The event brought together various businesspeople, ambassadors accredited in the country and other investors.
