Mozambique and Romania reaffirmed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a focus on the hydrocarbons, agriculture, education, institutional capacity-building, and humanitarian assistance sectors.
This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting held on Thursday (2) between Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria dos Santos Lucas, and Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana-Silvia Toiu, as part of the Mozambican minister’s visit to Europe.
According to Lusa, citing an official statement, the two ministers primarily identified the hydrocarbons, agriculture, education, institutional capacity-building, and humanitarian assistance sectors as areas for cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers also discussed other matters of mutual interest at the regional and multilateral levels, particularly within the framework of the United Nations. The Mozambican minister also met with Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, in an “atmosphere of constructive dialogue,” during which they addressed issues of common interest.
According to the Ministry, the two officials emphasized the importance of digitizing public services, implementing a cybersecurity system, and the relevance of meteorological services in the context of climate change.
Maria dos Santos Lucas also met with Mozambican communities living in Romania and Finland. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation is continuing her official visit to Europe with stops in Poland, where she will remain until Sunday, and in Lithuania, where she is scheduled to stay until Tuesday.
