The German government will provide around 3.1 billion meticais (48.6 million dollars) to finance projects of the Zambeze Valley Development Agency. The announcement was made on Wednesday, August 27, by the German ambassador to Mozambique, Ronald Münch, during a visit to the agency’s pavilion at the 60th edition of FACIM, which showcases the economic potential of the country’s central region.
As in previous editions, the Zambeze Valley Agency is present at the international fair with an exhibition of its projects related to agribusiness, tourism, fishing, and sustainable forestry. The institution’s Director-General, Celso Cunha, highlighted the diversity of offerings as an attraction for visitors and as an opportunity for exhibitors to establish business partnerships.
“The agency brings all the potential of the central region, of the Zambeze Valley. We showcase agribusiness, tourism products, fishing products, and what we call sustainable forestry,” said Cunha.
He added that the goal is to provide a space where exhibitors can not only promote their products but also secure profitable agreements and adopt best practices to improve their activities. “We hope our exhibitors will sign fruitful and profitable contracts and visit other stands to enhance their production or processing, particularly through better packaging and higher-quality final products,” he added.
Impressed by the exhibition, Ambassador Ronald Münch reiterated his country’s commitment to the region’s development. “It was very impressive. We know that the agency plays a very important role in developing various sectors, and we are very pleased that Germany, through its development agencies, partners with the Zambeze Agency. Our commitment is to support the development of different sectors, especially agriculture, for the welfare of the people,” he said.
According to the diplomat, the financial support will implement a comprehensive package, from idea conception to product certification and export. “What we have now, in planning through our implementing agencies, is a large-scale project to finance the Zambeze Agency’s projects and its businesses,” Münch revealed.
During the visit, guests had the opportunity to taste various national products, illustrating the agro-industrial potential of the region.

FACIM 2025 runs from August 25 to 31 at the Ricatla International Fair and Exhibition Center in Marracuene district and is recognized as Mozambique’s main multi-sector showcase and one of Southern Africa’s largest business platforms. With participation from over 3,050 exhibitors from 26 countries and an expected 65,000 visitors, the event is a strategic platform for promoting national production, attracting investment, and establishing business partnerships.
In this edition, Gaza province was designated “Province of Honor,” recognized for its potential in the agricultural and fishing sectors, while South Africa was named “Country of Honor” in recognition of its role in trade with Mozambique.
