At the 59th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), Licungo Rice, produced by the Promac company, is using the event as a strategic platform to expand its distribution network and consolidate itself as a reference brand on the Mozambican and international markets.
The company, based in Zambézia province, in the Maganja da Costa district, intends to take advantage of the fair’s visibility to attract new partners and strengthen its presence in the agri-food sector, according to a statement released by the event’s organisers.
According to the statement, Promac, which has been responsible for producing Licungo rice since 2012, has invested in its own infrastructure, such as tractors and self-propelled combines, to improve the efficiency of harvesting and planting seeds. However, the company faces significant challenges related to logistics and processing capacity. ‘We are here at FACIM to find partners who can help improve our distribution network and solve logistical challenges,’ the document states.
Focus on expanding the distribution network
The FACIM press release emphasises that Promac sees the fair as an opportunity to establish strategic contacts and expand its distribution network. Currently, Licungo rice is sold in shops located in Maputo, Nampula and other provinces, but the company wants to increase the number of points of sale, both in Mozambique and in international markets. To achieve this, Promac is looking for commercial partners who can facilitate access to new markets and improve the brand’s presence.
The company is also looking to optimise its packaging and transport processes to ensure that the product reaches the end consumer in good condition. ‘We have faced difficulties in logistics, especially in the packaging and transport of rice. We want to find solutions that allow us to reduce costs and increase distribution efficiency,’ the statement emphasises.
Growth prospects and government support
Promac also emphasises the importance of attracting investment that can help sustain the company’s growth. As mentioned in the statement, the company receives support from the provincial government and the Zambezi Valley Agency, but believes that this support needs to be extended in order to meet logistical challenges and expand production capacity.
‘We believe that FACIM is an excellent platform for promoting Licungo Rice and establishing new partnerships that will allow us to grow in a sustainable way,’ the document points out. The company hopes that the event will help increase brand visibility and attract the interest of potential distributors and investors.
Expectations for the future
Promac has positive expectations for its participation in FACIM 2024, hoping that the event will generate new business opportunities and help strengthen its distribution network. The press release points out that, with the right support, the company will be able to overcome current challenges and consolidate Licungo Rice as a leading brand on the market.
FACIM 2024, which closed on Saturday (31st), was one of Mozambique’s main trade fairs, offering a valuable platform for companies like Promac to expand their networks and explore new growth opportunities.
