The Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCM) wants to connect domestic agricultural producers to large shopping centers by providing training and improving production quality in order to reduce import rates, Lusa reported on Thursday, March 5.
“We want to train producers so that they can access markets. We have observed that many of them are unable to integrate into the national distribution network, especially in large shopping centers, due to the quality of production, which often does not meet the required standards,” said Lucas Chachine, president of the CCM, at the end of a meeting with the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo.
According to Chachine, the work of training farmers and seeking entities capable of processing the products produced for large shopping centers will create a value chain for producers and contribute to reducing imports.
He said he intends to work in coordination with the Minister of Economy, Basílio Muhate, to “materialize this vision, which coincides with the government’s plan, which is to increase production, reduce imports, increase exports, and create income for Mozambicans.”
In parallel with these actions, Lucas Chachine said that the objective of the entity he heads is to develop the business sector, with a focus on promoting national production.
For Daniel Chapo, the Executive and the CCM must work together to achieve the development objectives of the national business community, as well as establish relations with international entrepreneurs.
“[Let’s] work together, with the same goal, and develop the Mozambican business community and its relations with other entrepreneurs from other countries around the world, especially the main activity that the CCM has always carried out throughout its 46 years of existence.
