The Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (APME) joined the celebrations of 50 years of national independence, emphasizing “the importance of linking the political independence achieved in 1975 to effective economic independence,” based on strengthening domestic production and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
In a statement released this Wednesday, on the occasion of the June 25 celebrations, APME paid tribute “to all Mozambicans who, with courage, sacrifice, and vision, made possible the construction of a free, sovereign country committed to the development of its citizens.”
The association considers this moment a “historic occasion to reflect on the progress achieved and the challenges that still lie ahead on the path to inclusive economic and social progress.” For APME, the consolidation of national sovereignty must be based on “internal potential,” through “strengthening the national productive base and promoting a favorable environment for the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises.” SMEs are described by the association as “one of the central pillars of the national economy,” with a direct impact on job creation, local production stimulation, encouragement of innovation, and strengthening of social and territorial cohesion.
APME also highlights that it has been carrying out support actions for the sector, emphasizing its “active work in defending the interests of SMEs, promoting business associations, engaging in constructive dialogue with the State and other partners, and creating opportunities for the growth and formalization of the national business fabric.” The association reaffirms, finally, its commitment to building a solid, inclusive, and sustainable national economy as an integral part of the independence ideal initiated 50 years ago.
